Giving The Holy Bible - The Gift That Keeps on Giving
66The Gift That Keeps on Giving
One of the best and most beloved gifts I have ever recieved was my families bible. Well-worn from being read so many times, I would picture my grandmother and grandfather sitting around the fireplace, reading scriptures from the Bible. I even found some amazing photographs still tucked between the pages. I still, today, treasure that bible.
A bible makes a great gift for many special occasions. One such occassion might be for a wedding. Newlyweds will want to keep a bible in the family to pass down to children or other relatives. It's nice to have family members sign the bible for an added touch for future generations.
I know there are times when we are all caught in the "what on earth would make a good gift?" delema. With the holidays approaching, followed by other celebrations like Easter, Mother's Day ,Fathers Day, Graduation and year around Birthdays and Weddings - this might be the time to buy the perfect bible on line and save. And it just may be the perfect gift. .
And remember, a Bible can be a gift to feast on, rather than a project to complete before judgement day.

When you give - give with joy
It’s almost that time of year again. Christmas is right around the corner– I love Christmas! Can you imagine what it would be like without giving being such a major part of it? If you are a bit jaded about Christmas (like we all can become sometimes) I encourage you to really step back and try to be more joyful about your giving. We can either choose to let the gifts we purchase be an obligatory purchase or we can choose to give a gift with love and joy in our hearts.
It's our attitude about gift giving that really matters. There is a huge difference between buying stuff that you feel (or are) obligated to, and intentionally (and cheerfully) giving something to another person. It seems like the stress of shopping, traffic, lines and mailings all add up to too much stress. It is hard to give with joy when this is all going on. With on line shopping there is no stress. I think one of the benefits I like most about shopping on line is not having to prepare and wrap a gift, drive to the post office, wait in a long line and fight traffic to get home again.
If you have not experienced the convenience of on line shopping, now may be the time to give it a try.
Teaching Little Ones From The Bible
Jesus loved the little children. In the days of Jesus, children were not recognized and were not important. But Jesus valued them and taught even His disciples to honor them. An example of this is clear in Mark 10 versus 13 through 16. The disciples didn't want the children to touch Jesus. But Jesus rebuked His disciples and allowed the little children to "come unto him."
Passages throughout the bible remind us to teach children to follow the teachings of Christ. Children's bibles are wonderful for helping them to understand bible stories and teachings. We can also read straight from the bible and paraphrase to help young ones understand what the scriptures mean.

I never thought about giving the Bible as a present before. That's not a bad thought. I hear you about having fond memories about the old Bible in your possession. Mine is worn to the bone. Pages are falling out in sections even, and I can't bring myself to buy a new one.
Thank you for a lovely hub giving such a good and worth while idea.
You would probably guess that I have at least five different versions but you did a great job in putting in the selections~~~!!
My favorite one is falling apart, a soft leather bound KJV version...given to me by a couple, in graduate school.
Thank you for this, vocalcoach.
Hi audrey
How are you dear friend? I have been thinking of you and lifting you up before Father. Drop me a line sometime. I have started a new job and have been working full time. I haven't been able to be on here much and I miss it and everyone. Bless you!!
Great idea to give on Christmas. Actually I have a Bible at home but I don't read it. Maybe I'll give a Bible this Christmas. Great share.
Hi, I still have two Bibles from school! they are placed on my window ledge, and the other is in the front room, if I am feeling down I pick one up and close my eyes then just let it fall open, then I read what it says, it is amazing how many times it is relevant to what I am feeling at that time, thanks for this idea, I would never have thought of it. Sorry it's taken me a while to get back to you here, I seem to be running around so fast i will meet myself coming backwards one of these days! as my good old mum used to say! lol cheers nell
How weird that I , although read the bible everyweek. (I aim for every day but it´s usually 3 or 4 times a week if I´m honest) never have I thought of giving a bible as a gift..
I love the idea of leather covers etc for many of my friends who already have bibles. God bless and thank you very much for this.
The Bible is not only inspirational in nature, it is also great literature. The poetry and the history it contains are incomparable. What a book!
Truthfully I don't know anyone who doesn't have a bible but I use to give away the small ones to kids in the family and I had forgotten about that. Being small and cute I thought kids might be more apt to open and read a little. I will have to start that up again, thanks.

Well, you certainly presented many choices. For those interested in audio, noone can capture the spirit of the verse or touch the spirit as the voice of James Earl Jones.
Thanks for presenting Bible choices to satisfy every taste.
